Sustainability in the food supply chain is already a reality and no longer a niche expected by the environmentally conscient few. Sustainability is an inherent expectation by the customers, investors and also the right thing to do.
As sustainability becomes a mainstream requirement, the regulators are already joining in and drafting the relevant regulations.
For all the abovementioned reasons every organization in the food chain should concretize its sustainability impact through the identification of relevant issues, such as carbon foot print, water usage, sustainable packaging etc.,. Without a solid sustainability strategy the continuity of operations might be at risk.
